2026 UEFA European U17 Championship

Overview

These notes are a record of my observations from the 2026 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

My aims for watching the tournament were to:

• Continue developing my Talent ID baseline and benchmarking knowledge across different levels of the game

• Analyse the playing styles of the competing teams to better understand how different national associations are developing players and teams in their pathway

• Identify players to continue monitoring and scouting in more depth throughout the 2026/27 season

As I knowingly tried to observe multiple aspects of each match at once (a common 'no no' in scouting), my notes are intended to provide a snapshot of recurring team and player actions and intentions, as well as key involvements, rather than an in-depth scouting report. Player observations naturally lean towards in-possession phases, as more individual and unit focus is needed to assess defensive behaviours and decision-making.
